Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade was born on July 19, 1991, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, to a pilot father and a mother who was a trader.
Known in the showbiz circles as Mr Eazi, he is a Nigerian Afrobeats artist. In 2008, Mr Eazi relocated to Ghana to further his education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) .
His music career started after featuring on a campus song titled “My Life”, at KNUST. Mr Eazi then proceeded to release his first mixtape titled About to Blow in July 2013. He later released another mixtape titled “Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 – Accra To Lagos” on 10 February 2017
He gained international recognition after his single track titled “Skin Tight” featuring Ghanaian female vocalist Efya went viral. Mr Eazi went on to sign a record deal with Diplo’s label Mad Decent and a licensing deal with Universal Africa of the Universal Music Group in 2018.
Early Life And Career Beginnings
Mr Eazi was born in Port Harcourt, the capital and largest city in Rivers State, Nigeria. Mr Eazi’s mother was a trader while his father was a pilot who later started his own aviation consulting practice. While at primary school in Lagos, Mr Eazi was a chorister.
At age 16, Mr Eazi moved to Ghana to further his education, he pursued mechanical engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Mr Eazi started recording music during his time at KNUST. His music career started after featuring on a campus song titled “My Life”, at KNUST.
He started as an event organizer / promoter through his startup on campus called Swagger Entertainment. By the age of 23 years old, he returned to Nigeria and started his own e-commerce business. He worked for Schlumberger for a while upon his return to Nigeria. He also worked in in the soft drinks import, gold mining, and food distribution ventures.
Mr Eazi Mixtapes And Other Music Releases
In July 2013, Mr Eazi released his 13-track debut mixtape “About to Blow” . The mixtape featured two hit singles titled “Pipi Dance” released in 2012 and “Bankulize” released in November 2014. Prior to releasing the mixtape, Mr Eazi worked with Magnom, Peeweezle, Nshona, Klumonsta, D’Tunes, and E-Kelly.
After being in Ghana for a while, Mr Eazi relocated to Nigeria in 2014. In Nigeria he worked with UK-based Ghanaian producer Juls, to produce the single “Bankulize”. The song featured Ghanaian hiplife and Afro pop artist Pappy Kojo . The official remix of “Bankulize” featured co nigerian Afrobeats artist Burna Boy and was released in September 2016.
In August 2015, Mr Eazi then released the “Skin Tight” featuring Ghanaian female vocalist Efya . “Skin Tight” was produced by DJ Juls.
His rise to international recognition started from there: In April 2017, “Skin Tight” was featured in an ad for the vodka brand Ciroc. Mr Eazi was featured on Eugy’s 2016 hit single “Dance for Me”. The song made up The Guardian newspaper’ 10 biggest African tracks of 2016. . On 17 June 2016, Mr Eazi released another single track titled “Anointing”, featuring Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie.
Mr Eazi And Ghana Music Awards
Mr. Eazi was denied participation in the 2016 Ghana Music Awards because he was not a Ghanaian citizen. He however signed a deal with the Starboy Worldwide record label. In 2017, he released the mixtape Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1: Accra to Lagos, which featured Tekno, Olamide, Phyno, Mugeez, Medikal, DJ Cuppy, Falz, and Big Lean.
On 10 February 2017, Mr Eazi’s second mixtape, Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 – Accra To Lagos, was released. The mixtape debuted at number 4 on the Billboard World Albums chart.The mixtape, which he said was a tribute to the two cities that influenced his music career, comprised 14 tracks and three bonus tracks. Songs on the mixtape were produced by Maleek Berry, Masterkraft, Legendury Beatz, and Young John.
Mr Eazi Music And Career
Mr Eazi is best known as the originator of Banku music (an attempt to brand his music), a fusion of Ghanaian Pidgin Englis and highlife and Nigerian music rythms.
Mr. Eazi has churned out numerous hit songs like “Bankulize” , “About To Blow”, “Skin Tight” featuring Efya, “Hollup”, “Dance for Me” featuring Eugy, “Leg Over” and “Pour Me Water”. The Nigerian native has had collaborations including those with RAYE on “Decline”, “Bad” with Steel Banglez and “Bad Vibes” featuring M.O and Lotto Boyzz.
Mr. Eazi ‘ “Decline” and “Bad Vibes” featured on the Top 20 in the U.K charts while “Bad” made it to the Top 40.
The mixtape’s hit single “Leg Over” was released on 2 December 2016. The hit single “Leg Over” inspired numerous dance videos. On 1 February 2017, Mr Eazi released “Tilapia” as the mixtape’s second single which featured Ghanaian hiplife artist Medikal.
On March 2017, Mr Eazi released music video for “In The Morning” which featured American rapper Big Lean which was directed by Sesan.
On April 2017, Mr Eazi released music video for “Fight” directed by Teekay.
On 7 April 2017, Mr Eazi released the music video for “Business“, featuring vocals from Mugeez of R2Bees.

Mr Eazi At Coachella And His Empawa Africa Initiative
In April 2019, Eazi performed at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. In August 2019, Mr Eazi launched a talent incubation initiative called emPawa Africa. emPawa Africa is an initiative to nurture and support up-and-coming artistes in Africa. The initiative supported by YouTube Music, would be enroll Thirty musicians in the first edition and would receive grant and mentorship to scale up their music career. .
The emPawa Africa will include 10 artists from Nigeria, 10 artists from other countries on the African continent, and five U.K.-based African artists, with the remaining five spots open to African-born artists in countries around the world, including the U.S. and Canada,
The 30 artists will be provided with financial assistance to film their music video and offer mentorship and guidance from artists like Diamond Platinumz, Sarkodie, Kwesta, Guilty Beatz, Juls, E. Kelly, DJ Neptune, Diplo and Mr Eazi.
emPawa currently has supported the likes of Ghana’s J. Derobie, Kwesi Arthur, Nigeria’s Joeboy among others.
Personal life Of Mr Eazi
Mr Eazi is set to marry long time girlfriend Temi Otedola, daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola.
Mr Eazi is managed by Meister Music, a Ghana based record label that is focused on projecting Africa’s new sound to the world.

Mr. Eazi has had over eight major nominations and won four awards. Music Collaborations he has made with other artists has also won major awards such as his collaboration with GuiltyBeatz, Patapaa & Pappy Kojo (Ghana, Nigeria) for “Akwaaba”.

In 2016 he received MOBO awards as the best African act. the Headies Award for Next Rated (2016), Soundcity MVP awards that was mainly because of the hit song ‘skin tight’ Wats up TV Africa music video awards for skin tight. He also won Most Promising Act to Watch at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards 2016.
He also had nominations for Listeners Choice, Viewers Choice, Song of the Year and Best New Artiste at the Soundcity MVP.
