The year 2019 is almost ending, as such we take a look at top Ghanaian hit songs and music videos of 2019.

2019 came with refreshing sounds, new talents, new music like never before. A crop of new young and talented artists representing the “New Sound” of Ghana music has officially taken over.


The likes of Kwesi ArthurDarkovibesKofi MolePatapaaFameye , Wendy shay, Sefa, Amaarae, Quamina MP , Tulenkey, La Même etc and a few others now represent the new school of Ghana music. Although the “Old School” guys in other words the pioneers of the Hip Life – Afrobeats – Dancehall sounds and those that joined along the way are equally  on top of their game. Talk of Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Guru, Medikal etc.

We  share with you some of the most popular songs of the whole of 2019 that dominated the airwaves. Which criteria did we use? Its simple dominance on the air waves. Just like any other Top Trending List on any blog it has artists that should have been included but were not considering the length of the list. However let us know in the comments and we may include such artists.


This list does not follow a particular order. It is just a list of all Top Ghanaian Hit Songs and music videos Of 2019.



  •   Kofi Kinaata – Things Fall Apart (Prod. by Two Bars)






Kofi Kinaata who is a two time Songwriter of the year at the Ghana Music Awards released the hit record titled “THINGS FALL APART to address issues concerning the current economic hardships and hypocrisy of supposed religious people in the country are quite difficult to talk about so he decided to put it in his music so people can relate to it. He made this known with the statement :

“I did not talk about one particular group. The song is for all and everyone can relate to the song. It’s about our everyday life. Just like our president said; we have to be citizens, not spectators,”

Kofi Kinaata is a product of the 2009 edition of Melody FM’s Kasahari Battle. He is noted for his lyrical dexterity in terms of unique rhyme schemes and humorous Fante rap style, with a touch of traditional African proverbs in his local language, to entertain and educate his fans.
He released his first hit single titled ‘Made in Taadi’ in December 2015, followed by another hit single, ‘Confession’ in early 2016, which was among the “Top 10” songs in 2016.
Kofi Kinaata won the Song Writer of the Year and Best New Artiste of the Year awards at the 2016 edition of the Ghana Music awards.

The talented artiste, who is credited with a number of hit danceable songs, has done major collaborations with artistes such as Sarkodie, Jayso, Castro, Becca among others.



  • Sarkodie, Donae’O & Idris Elba ‘Party & Bulls#!t’




Award-winning Ghanian rapper Sarkodie collaborates with multi talented UK based actor and musician Idris Elba and singer and producer Donae’o for a remarkable music video for their new collaboration “Party & Bullshit.”

The song is all about celebrating life and having a good time. The track opens with Sarkodie delivering a rapid-fire verse. His impressive flow shines through as he raps completely in Twi. Elba joins in with an energetic second verse that humorously references fufu, while Donae’o provides the song’s catchy, anthemic chorus.

The party filled music video was directed by Capone and Guise.




  • Sarkodie & Kwesi Arthur – Who Da Man




Sarkcess music boss and BET best international flow award winning rapper Sarkodie collaborated with Ground Up boss Kwesi Arthur on this all rap tune titled “Who Da Man”.

After the release of this power packed rap song, the award winning rapper Sarkodie released the instrumental to the hip-hop single ‘Who Da Man’ for all rap artists to try their skill on. This sparked the Who Da Man Challange on various social media platforms that saw mostly upcoming artists exhibit their rap talent on the beat. Sarkodie droped the beat with hook for rap Mcees to exhibit their flow.




  •  Sarkodie ft. Efya – Saara (Prod. by MOGBeatz)




Decorated Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie  released his third single off his Blacklove album featuring top female vocalist Efya and was produced by Mog Beatz. This is not the first time these too natural talents teamed up. But one thing is for sure, it is always a banger when the two collaborates.


Sarkodie dropped the Saara song off his Black Love album  on September 27 2019.   Prior to that, Sarkodie earlier released three songs from this superb album namely, ‘Can’t Let You Go ft. King Promise’, ‘Lucky’ ft. Rude Boy and ‘Do You.’




  • Shatta Wale – Melissa





Ghanaian acclaimed Dancehall King and King of the masses Shatta Wale released the Melissa song after his carrere changing feature with global American superstar Beyonce on her The Lion King: The Gift Album.

The song was produced by himself and co produced by Paq.



  • Beyonce ft Shatta Wale – Already




‘Already’ is the 11th song on the The Lion King: The Gift album.

The album also features Wizkid, Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi, Yemi Alade, Tekno & Tiwa Savage, South African acts Moonchild & Busiswa, and Cameroonian artist Salatiel.

Already is a song by Beyonce, Shatta Wale and Major Lazer. This piece is from Beyonce’s album – ‘The Lion King: The Gift’. The Album has a number of Nigerian artists which include Mr. EaziWizkid, Tekno, BurnaBoy and Yemi Alade.



  • Wendy Shay – Kut It




Rufftown Records Award Winning songstress, Wendy Shay released the tune titled “Kut It”, which is rumored to be a shade to now former record lable mate Fantana. “Kut It” is an Afrobeats song produced by MOGBeatz.




  • Kelvyn Boy – Mea ft. Joey B





‘Mea’ is one of the hit songs featured on Kelvyn Boy’s debut EP titled, “T.I.M.E”. “‘Mea’ definitely holds a special place in Kelvyn Boy’s heart as he made it known with the statement: “‘Mea’ is a big tune for me and one of the EP’s highlights I’d say. It has a Highlife flair which I love.”

The Afrobeats tune tells a story of a young guy who adores a special lady in his life. He goes on to say he is the only one the lady wants.


The 8 track EP  features the likes of Suzz Blaq, Joey B, Damaris, Kidi, Stonebwoy and Medikal, with production credits to Liquid Beatz and Samsney. it incorporates other musical genres such as reggae, dancehall, and highlife. He made this statement about his EP:

“‘T.I.M.E’, my debut EP, is an abbreviation for The Inspirational Moment Ever. From the production to lyrics, it’s strictly Afro-beats. I wanted to represent this sound and Ghana’s sound to a global market.” – Kelvyn Boy



  • Fameye – Mati





Fast rising Ghanaian HipLife / Afrobeats sensation, Fameye released his much anticipated single “Mati”, which as usual is a banger.

He talks about the bad-mouthing by the people we call friends. This Song was produced by LiquidBeatz. “Mati” literally translates as “I Have Heard”.



  • DopeNation ft. Medikal – Confam (Prod. by MOGBeatz)




Lynx Entertainment artistes DopeNation released this hit song titled “Confam”  featuring VGMA 2019 rapper of the year AMG Medikal. This tune was produced by MOG Beatz.


After they successfully released Zanku under their new record Label Lynx Entertainment, Ghanaian music Duo DopeNation launched their second single under Lynx Entertainment.




  • Kwesi Arthur – Zombie (Prod. by TwoBars)




Ghana’s hip hop artist Kwesi Arthur released his much anticipated single entitled “Zombie”which was inspired by his personal experiences. In this song Kwesi Arthur encourages the youth to  persevere in attaining their dreams.

Kwesi Arthur released this single ahead of his “Live In New York” Concert which comes off on November 20th at the Chelsea Music Hall USA.
Kwesi Arthur – Zombie (Prod. by TwoBars) was produced by TwoBars. It was released off his anticipated project dubbed “We Outside”.




  • Tulenkey ft. Quamina Mp , Fameye & DJ Vyrusky – Goodnight (Mada)(Remix)




Fast-rising Ghanaian Hiplife / Afrobeats artiste, Tulenkey released the official remix for his song “Goodnight (Mada)”. The new record featured vocal assistance from various Ghanaian hit-makers: Fameye, Quamina MP and DJ Vyrusky who all delivered awesome verses on the joint.

The single ‘Goodnight (Mada) ’ was produced by Ghanaian music maker, Fimfim



  •  DarkoVibes ft. Runtown – Mike Tyson (Prod. by WillisBeatz)



La Meme Gang signed act DarkoVibes released this hit single titled “Mike Tyson” which features Nigerian singer, songwriter , vocalist and crooner Runtownt. The song was produced by WIllisBeatz.




  •  Fameye ft. Joey B – Chairman (Prod. by Tombeatz)





Ghanaian music prodigy Fameye  rose to fame with his hit single ‘Nothing I Get’ featuring Afrobeats singer and rapper Joey B. Fameye’s ‘Nothing I Get’  became an instant street anthem. This song was produced by Tombeats.




  • Kofi Mole – Bestie (Prod. by Yung D3mz)




Ground Up Chale artist and fast rising Afrobeats singer Kofi Mole whose unique word play coupled with his crooning voice has earned him an instant spot among the new crop of Ghanaian artists

Since his debut on Ground Up Chale , he has been on a constant rise. His collaboration with Kwesi Arthur on ‘Mensah’ shot him higher. Kofi Mole also appeared on Sarkodie‘s ‘Biibi Ba’ .



  • Don’t Be Late – Kofi Mole



Dont be late is one of the songs that finally shot the young Ghanaian prodigy to the lime light. The song is a blend of Afrobeats and R&B. This song turns out to be a true story of Kofi Mole’s encounter with his crush.


  • Pilolo – Guilty Beatz, Mr. Eazi & Kwesi Arthur




This song sounds like Guilty Beatz’s  2018 hit dance song, Akwaaba, that took over the air waves for a very long time. Earning many international accolades. The song is made with same artists as the Akwaaba banger,  namely Guilty Beatz production and Mr Eazi . Just that this time Papy Kojo and Patapaa were absent but that did not reduce the flavor of the song since Ground Up artist Kwesi Arthur spiced it up with his unique Hip Hop vocal.

The hook of the song is based on a popular Ghanaian childhood play term “Pilolo” Which translates as hide-and-seek.  The song has the usual African street dance feature just like the Akwaaba song. If this was a movie, it would have been a sequel.



  • Ayekoo – Medikal ft. King Promise




If one could remember, this song was released after Medikal’s breakup with Deborah Vanessa. This love song made soothing by the new school highlife sensation King Promise. This song in way confirmed Medikal’s relationship with Fella Makafui. ‘Ayekoo’ translates as “well-done”.  Probably congratulating the love birds for their new journey.



  • African Girl – Kwesi Arthur ft. Shatta Wale



The Ground Up boss and Afro Hip Hop sensation Kwesi Arthur, released this song to signal  his Live From Nkrumah Krom II album. Kwesi Arthur “African Girl” song as usual is a blend of his unique signature African Hip Hop and some R& B. The ‘African Girl’ song talks about the beauty of the African woman. Kwesi Arthurs unique hip Hop signature would go down to cement his legacy as one of the pioneers of the new school.



  • Proud Fvck Boys – Tulenkey ft. Eddie Khae




The ‘Proud Fvck Boy’ tune is a Hip Life song that exalts the characteristics of a “Fvck Boy”. And yess a proud one of course.

Proud ‘Fvck Boys’ is one of several songs of Tulenkey’s power packed 10 track mixtape titled 1/1. Tulenkey  has definitely proven to be a a very talented and typical Ghanaian hip life composer. With a couple song on his mixtape turning out to be an instant hit for 2019.



  • Jama – DJ Mic Smith ft. Patoranking & Shaker





The Jama song is a Ghana-Nigeria collaborations which as usual turns out to be a banger every time. This song was almost an anthem for popular Ghanaian celebs such as Moesha Budoung  who recorded a video of herself wildly jamming to the tune. The song produced by DJ Mic Smith features “Unity” hitmaker Shaker and Afrobeats superstar Patoranking.

The Jama song talks about the “Stupidity” of an imaginary man and woman called Broda and Aunty respectively and their odeal in a date with a younger person.




  • Ko-Jo Cue x Shaker – Unity (Prod by Juicxxx)



Ko-Jo Cue and Shaker Unity song is a collaboration between the former Skillions records group mates. The song produced by Juicxxx appreciates the beauty of the Ghanaian woman with notable mention of Ghanaian female celebrities such as Fella Makafui, Efia Odo and Bella mundi.



  • Omo Ada – Medikal



VGMA 2019 rapper of the year winner AMG Medikal, released this tune with his new found love Fella Makafui. Probably in an attempt to cement their love and silence the critics. Just like the many Jargon filled songs this song carries the jargon “Omo Ada” which translates as “They are asleep”. This turns out to be a conversation between a married man inquiring from his wife whether the kids are asleep so they could do the distin.

This is a party song that one would not expect from a rapper but music is business, artists produce whatever sells. Ghanaians notably love party songs than any other sub genre.


  • Poverty – J Derobie



‘Poverty’ produced by UglyBeatz is a reggae/dancehall song from the sensational rastaman without locks J Derobie. This song was an outstanding debut single that earned him a lot of attention in Ghana and on the international scene. This song went on to earn a feature from Jamaican star Popcaan on the remix of the song,


The 24 year old sensational reggae/dancehall artists Derrick Obuobi Jr ppopularly called J Derobie  in the showbiz circle, is a beneficiary of Mr. Eazi’s emPAWA Africa project which is Mr. Eazi’s initiative to support the careers of 100 emerging music acts across the continent.



  • Kwesi Arthur – Nobody (feat Mr Eazi)


In anticipation to the Live From Nkrumah II album, Kwesi arthur released another banger off the album titled “Nobody” . This tune features Mr Eazi and was produced by Mog Beatz.

“Nobody” is a love song that talks about a young man pouring out his heart to his lover.

Instead of pouring his signature Afro pop rap on this tune, Kwesi Arthur chose to sing and did it quit well.



  • Fameye – Nothing I Get



This is the very song that shot the young Hip Life – Afrobeats prodigy Fameye to limelight. Fameye’s single ‘Nothing I Get’ instantly became a street anthem.



  • Wendy Shay – Stevie Wonder (feat Shatta Wale)


Ghanaian female songstress Wendy Shay features Shatta Movement boss and acclaimed Ghanaian dancehall King on this tune titled Stevie Wonder. This song is shade to her haters after series of criticisms and comparing her to late Ebony.
The message from Stevie Wonder is as simple, she tells her haters she doesn’t see what they are doing and that she is focused on her music career.
The song was produced by MOG Beatz and JMJ. The video was shot on location in Accra and directed by Yaw SkyFace for APStairs International Media.




  • Stonebwoy – Shuga (feat Beenie Man)



Stonebwoy – Shuga  is a Ghana – Jamaica collaboration between Ghanaian Afrobeats / Dancehall superstar Stonebwoy and Jamaican Dancehall superstar Beenie Man .  And it was a major international hit.

“Shuga” is  produced by Ghana’s StreetBeatz. Stonebwoy and Beenie Man were all over this rhythm with massive energy. Aside Stonebwoy’s big time collaboration with Sean Paul last year for “Most Original”. This was one of Stonebwoy’s biggest collaborations of his career as he stated on his social media handles with the statement “This collab is legendary,” after the release of the song.

The music video was well directed by BlingBlang. With a nice story line. The music video features Stonebwoy and Beenie Man at a subway where they turned the train into a dancehall discotheque.



  • King Promise – Tokyo (feat Wizkid)




This is another Ghana – Nigeria collaboration between Ghanaian new school Highlife / Afrobeats crooner King Promise and Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid.

This tune was released prior to his debut album. After his release of his hit single such as “Selfish,” “CCTV” and “Abena”.

This song was produced by Killbeatz, the song makes huge promises a lady they are in love with such as traveling her around the world.



  • Stonebwoy – Kpo K3k3 (feat Medikal, Darkovibes, Kelvynboy, Kwesi Arthur)



Despite being released on the later part of December 2018 specifically December 20th, this song is on our list because it was a major hit through 2919. We all know hit songs released at the end of the year resonates through the next year.

The CEO of Burniton Music Group and BET Awards winner Stonebwoy featured Ghana’s finest artists who made hits in the year on this tune to say a farewell to the year.  Fast Rising artists at the time such as Medikal, Darkovibes, Kelvynboy, and Kwesi Arthur were featured on this song.

Kpo k3k3 was a massive party song that took over the Christmas and new year celebrations. The Kpo k3k3 video is all about the party , fashion, drinks and beautiful women.



  • Kelvynboy – Holiday (feat Kwesi Arthur)



This is another end of year song released on the later parts of 2018 but was a hit through 2019.

The then Burniton Music group signed artiste Kelvyn Boy – Kelvynboy followed the footsteps of his boss Stonebwoy to drop an end of year banger. He titled the melodic Afrobeats song “Holiday” and he featured Ground Up music boss and “Grind Day” hitmaker Kwesi Arthur. This nice tune was produced by Liquid Beatz.

This is one of the songs that shot Ghana’s own “Wizkid” kelvyn boy into the lime light.



  •  Pappy Kojo – Balance (feat Joey B, Nshorna)



Pappy KoJo kicked off 2019 with this hit single titled “Balance” and features producer and artiste Nshorna Muzik and Afrobeats lord Joey B. Balance was produced by Nova.


The fante Rapper, Pappy Kojo after a long break made his return with this banger featuring Joey B and Nshorna Music.



  • La Même – Reveal (Fly You Out) (feat Darkovibes & $pacely)



This tune was released Off the released La Même Tape: Linksters. The  sensational Ghanaian group, La Même Gang released this Afrobeats banger  titled “Reveal (Fly You Out)” featuring DarkoVibes, and $pacely.
